Saintly Plague Doctor - The Black Death | Gothic Cross Stitch Pattern

A plague doctor, deified, surrounded by nice smelling herbs and flowers. During the black plague, it was believed that foul smells were toxic. Hanging about his head is lavender, carnations, roses and a sprig of mint. It would be stuffed into the nose of the mask to ward off the smells.
